Level Three Cenote Excursions

Angelita & Dreamgate

These are perhaps two of the most visually stunning cenotes in the Riviera Maya. Angelita is a pit-style cenote with the thickest hydrogen sulfide cloud of those we can visit here - swim above or within the mist to experience a ghostly sensation you'll never forget. Explore the walls for fossils, swim-throughs and massive stalactites, before heading off for part two of your adventure.

Dreamgate cenote is the most highly-decorated cavern in the area. Follow a constantly twisting and turning path through the formations in a tour of hundreds of thousands of years of geological history. No one, in our experience, has ever left this cavern unimpressed. Due to the narrower passages and delicate nature of many of the formations we swim through, divers must have a minimum of an Advanced certification and 100+ logged dives to book this excursion, or have previously dived with us and been assessed as having adequate buoyancy control.

This full-day excursion includes:

  • 2 dives, one at Angelita and one at cenote Dreamgate (two separate dives at Dreamgate can be arranged at an additional cost)

  • transportation to/from the cenote (from Playa del Carmen)

  • lunch

  • cenote entrance fees

  • private guide - unlike other shops, we do not add extra divers to your group.

Taak bi Ha & Tak be Luum

For those who want to see something entirely different - let us introduce you to our two most famous dome caverns. Both these sites are located in an underground air dome that has largely not collapsed…meaning we descend into a freshwater reservoir in an underground pit and begin our dives from there.

As these are both dark, winding, shallow cenotes with an amazing mix of formations and swimming challenges, these are ideal for those who are interested in cave diving but have not yet earned that certification. It will give you a great taste of what's in store! Due to the technical characteristics of these caverns, we ask that divers have and Advanced certification plus min 100+ logged dives if booking this excursion directly, or book other dives with us prior, to allow us to assess the suitability of these dive sites for you.

This full-day excursion includes:

  • 2 dives, one on each cavern

  • transportation to/from the cenote (from Playa del Carmen)

  • lunch

  • cenote entrance fees

  • private guide - unlike other shops, we do not add extra divers to your group.

Zapote ("Hells Bells") & Siete Bocas

Unlike most of our cenote excursions, which take place to the south of Playa del Carmen, there is a zone to the northeast near Puerto Morelos that also offers incredible cenote diving. Although other options exist for those who have already seen these two (contact us), this is our favorite northern combination.

Cenote Zapote, also known as Hells Bells, is a geological anomaly. While most caverns boast formations that grew during the last ice age, recent research into Zapote's unusual formations has shown them to be continuously growing and formed by aquatic bacteria. Swimming among these massive bell formations is something you'll never experience elsewhere, and is well worth the trip.

Siete Bocas, another unusual site, is a massive underground pit cenote with seven "mouths”(bocas) or small entrances at its surface, creating an unusual interplay of light. With a huge cavernous zone to explore and a hydrogen sulfide cloud that swirls with underground currents, it's another visually stunning dive.

Due to the depth and limited visibility in these two cenotes we ask divers to have an Advanced certification and 100+ logged dives if booking directly, or a "checkout dive” with us prior, in order to confirm that these sites are suitable for you.

This full-day excursion includes:

  • 2 dives, one at each site

  • transportation to/from the cenote (from Playa del Carmen)

  • lunch

  • cenote entrance fees

  • private guide - unlike other shops, we do not add extra divers to your group.
